The legend of the basilisk is another Romanian myth. This creature is said to lurk in caves and mines, waiting to attack unsuspecting marketbusiness travelers. It is said to be a giant, scaly beast with a long, snake-like tail. It is believed that its stare can turn people to stone, so it is best to keep your distance from this mythical creature. Finally, another popular Romanian myth is the story of Dracula. Though the real-life inspiration for this character was Vlad the Impaler, the Romanian prince who lived centuries ago, the modern-day version of Dracula is based on Bram Stoker’s novel. This vampire is said to live in Transylvania, where he preys on the blood of the living. These are just a few of the many myths and legends that are associated with Romania. From mysterious creatures to ancient gods and goddesses, Romania is a country flipboard filled with fascinating stories and legends. Whether you believe in them or not, these myths and legends are an integral part of Romanian culture and folklore.
